A Message from Todd Stansbery
Welcome to The Swain School web site. As the Head of School, I have the fortunate
opportunity to work with the parents and faculty collaboratively, to help engage and
guide our 300 preschool — grade 8 students.
Our goal at Swain is to provide our talented boys and girls an excellent education. Coupled with the foundation of an enriched academic program, we aim to develop confident learners in our vibrant and child-centered community. We encourage children to explore knowledge and develop their imagination by providing them a sense of self and an understanding about the world they will embrace in their future. Our strong character education program is steeped in community service and allows our students to know our own community, but also the world waiting for them when they finish our eighth grade.
Our hope is that our students gain the confidence to speak independently, work collaboratively, write thoughtfully and creatively, and express themselves by using critical thinking skills. In partnership with our faculty, our small class sizes help students find their strengths and create strategies for them to become a responsible citizen at school and in their greater community. Our educational journey has a distinct balance of challenge and encouragement, which helps each one of our children know themselves and respect the diversity of others.
At the core of any healthy relationship there is trust. The trust among the faculty and students and the parents and the school runs deep. This partnership helps The Swain School graduates become positive leaders when they enter High School and prepare for their adult lives.
To say it directly, at The Swain School your child is known and is loved. This is the one value that will build the foundation for our students to succeed while attending Swain and beyond our walls. I encourage all of you to come and visit our school and take the time to meet our students and our faculty. Enjoy the visit online, but experience the benefit of a preschool – 8th grade school education by visiting our campus and observing the meaningful learning taking place, and the positive relationships developed at The Swain School.
Warmly,
Todd P. Stansbery
