Visual Arts
Visual arts is a fun-making, skill-building program based on art history from cave painting to today. It teaches students how to use art in their everyday lives. At each grade level students are taught a sequential part of the western art history timeline and contemporary art from around the world.
Work in the visual arts classroom is cumulative and by the time a student graduates from 8th grade he or she will be prepared for any high school art elective. The Swain School experience of art making leads students to a deeper understanding of themselves and their world through hands-on practice.
