Each May, Swain friends and family convene for two elegant events in support of the school: The Dinner and Auction Gala, and the Annual Swain Golf Tournament.
The 18th Annual Swain Dinner and Auction Gala will be held Saturday,
May 15 at the newly-remodeled Lehigh Country Club. Adults dine on fine food, visit with friends, and vie for hundreds of different items at the auction. It is a great evening with an even greater purpose - raising money for the advancement of The Swain School and its students!
Each year a band of dedicated volunteers target an ambitious goal like new playing fields for sports, networked media centers with Internet access in every classroom, a new library center - something that will directly enhance the experiences of Swain students. This year's goal is to support Swain's students and teachers with student scholarships, student and teacher enrichment, and teacher salaries.
Months of teamwork and organization create a sense of mounting excitement throughout the Swain community. Auction donations include valuable items such as vacations, jewelry, fine wines, luxury merchandise and priceless classroom projects made by the students themselves. Teachers contribute "Teachers' Treasures" - outings or one-on-one sessions with students, or an opportunity to work with that teacher for a day.
For those who love golf, the chance to steal away for a Monday in May (this year on May 17, 2010) with friends, family or colleagues is hard to resist. Golfers' abilities range from scratch to maximum handicaps, and individuals who want to play can be placed with a foursome or designate their own group.
Fine food, great golf, prizes, and the opportunity to network, draw friends and business leaders from far and wide to this annual event. Funds raised from the tournament will be combined with those of the Auction to support teacher salaries and student scholarships.
