Cross Country team debuts
Eight middle school athletes debuted Swain's newest athletic  team - Cross Country - at a meet against Montgomery School on Sept. 21.
Pitted against a bigger and more experienced team, the Swain athletes all stepped up to the challenge and completed the two mile run (nine times around the front field).
"They have really been practicing hard, and all showed a lot of improvement over their previous runs," said Coach Kristen Armstrong.
Three Swain runners - Marcy Bardman '13, Sophia Fabiano '14, and Aaron Shoemaker '14 - finished among the top ten runners.
A supportive and vocal crowd cheered on the athletes, who will compete in additional meets next month. |
