At an informal ceremony on Jan. 24, Lee Butz - chairman of the board of Alvin H. Butz, Inc.and avid amateur photographer - came to Swain to help us unveil two aerial photographs he has taken of our campus.
A third piece - an architect's rendering of the original Swain Country Day School building, dating from 1949 - is also on permanent display in the hallway adjacent to the Ehle Lobby of The McCann Center. It was restored by Swain parents, Lesley and Tom Harcke, with financial support from Swain alum parents, Cheri and Steve O'Neill.
At the ceremony, Mr. Butz shared how he took the aerial photos (one in 2001 and another in 2011) hanging out of a helicopter, about 800 feet over the campus.
More pictures are posted on our photo gallery.
