Second LAPS event raises funds for library, science
The Swain Association held its second "LAPS for Library & Science" fund raiser on Friday, Oct. 21. See the photos of the Preschool and Prekindergarten run, and those from the K-8 event.
Students solicited pledges from friends and family, raising almost $20,000 from the laps they walked and ran. Swain's library and science programs benefited from the funds.
Families were encouraged to return as many envelopes as they liked, but any student whose family returned at least seven envelopes were invited to participate in a "NUT" (No Uniform Today) dress down day.
Other incentives included:
- Most LAPS Medal: for a boy and a girl in each grade
- Sneaker Trophy: for the classroom that raised the most money
- 50 States: A whole school challenge to send at least one sponsorship to each state in the US
- How Far???: Which family sent the farthest request?
