The Swain Experience doesn’t start and stop with the regular school day – the opportunities for learning and fun are available before school, after school, and even during the summer.
Swain After-School Specials (SASS)
More opportunities to learn and have fun with Swain’s talented faculty: Swain After-School Specials (SASS) provides a wide variety of classes for students of all ages.
SASS is run in three, six-week sessions throughout the school year. Opportunities might include activities like basketball, soccer, and Zumba; arts options like drawing, animation or scrapbooking; and Makerspace programs such as Legos, littleBits, coding or electronics. Yoga, baking, Indian dance, and Math Mania are among other popular offerings.
For more information contact SASS Coordinator Sara Collins at firstname.lastname@example.org or 610-433-4542, ext. 646.
Extended Care Program
Before- and after-school care is available during the regular school year for our students in all grades. Families may schedule specific days and/or times for their children to use this service, or they can drop in by notifying the Main Office that the service is needed.
This program includes crafts, games, and play as well as educational opportunities. It gives children a quiet place to do their homework and class assignments under the supervision of a staff member. In addition to indoor activities, students enjoy several outdoor areas on our 20-acre campus. An after-school snack and beverage are also provided.
Before school care is offered at no charge from 7:30 - 8:00 a.m., and after school from 3:00 - 5:30 p.m., when hourly fees apply. For the 2016-2017 school year, the hourly fee for Extended Care is $10.30 per child. Discounts are available for multiple children in the same family.
In the event of an unscheduled early dismissal, Extended Care will remain open for two hours past the dismissal time, so all students and staff can get home safely.
Check the calendar for current information about Early Dismissals and school closures. For more information, contact Stacie Brown, Coordinator of Extended Care, at 610-433-4542, ext. 210 or email@example.com.
The active learning continues during the summer, when we offer our popular “Summer at Swain” program.
For summer 2017, we are offering a selection of week-long, half-day and full-day programs during the weeks of July 10-August 4. Sessions are open to students entering Prekindergarten-9th grade; children do not have to be Swain students to attend.
Swain faculty will be offering such programs as digital photography, Math Magic, woodworking, drama camp, space camp, science, and – a unique opportunity at Swain – the "World Peace Game”.
