Extended Care & Summer Care

We are proud of our school's wonderful Extended Care program, which 'extends' the school day for Swain students during the regular school year, and our Summer Care program (for all children in the community). Swain's program is a state licensed child care center.

Extended Care

During the regular school year, we offer before- and after-school supervision for our students in all grades during every school day, and for most school holidays and early dismissal days. Parents may schedule specific days and/or times for their children to use this service, or they can "drop in" by notifying the Main Office that the service is needed.

Extended Care at Swain means fun, crafts, and play as well as educational opportunities. Children have a quiet place to complete homework and class assignments under the supervision of a staff member. In addition to indoor activities, students enjoy several outdoor areas on Swain's 20 acre campus.

After students socialize, an after school snack and beverage are provided.

Extended Care Schedule

Before school supervision is available weekdays from 7:30 - 8:00 a.m. and after school supervision is provided from 3:00 - 5:30 p.m. Please check our calendar for current information about Early Dismissal and No School Days.

On days when we have an unscheduled early dismissal, Extended Care will remain open for two hours past the dismissal time, so all students and staff can get home safely.

Summer Care

During the summer months, Summer Care offers a fun and flexible child care resource for all children in the community, age 3 through entering 9th grade.

A wide variety of activities are offered, including outdoor play, field trips, reading, buddy opportunities, creative activities, working in our organic garden, and much more!

Many children who attend the Summer Care program also participate in our Summer Experience programs and/or summer sports camps.
