Applying to Swain
We are happy to guide you through the steps of the admission process.
THE JOURNEY TO ADMISSION
STEP 1: REQUEST INFORMATION Complete an online inquiry.
STEP 2: PHONE CONVERSATION OR VIDEO CHAT Arrange a phone conversation or video-chat with the Admission Office.
STEP 3: SUBMIT AN APPLICATION Once you apply online ($70 fee), you may check on the status of your application by signing into your secure and confidential online account.
STEP 4: STUDENT VIRTUAL VISIT Schedule a time for your child to video chat with or visit their prospective classroom.
STEP 5: TESTING Schedule an appointment for age-appropriate testing with the Admission Office.
Testing for PS, PK and K
For this admission year, students will be assessed both virtually and in person (if safely possible) to determine developmental readiness for Swain's program.
Testing 1st-8th Grade:
For this admission year, students will be assessed both virtually and in person (if safely possible) in Math, Reading and Writing to determine readiness for Swain's program.
STEP 6: SUBMIT SUPPORTING DOCUMENTATION Necessary documentation is specified by grade and may include: Teacher Recommendations, School Report Cards or Transcripts, and Immunization Records.
AGE REQUIREMENTS:
- Students applying for Preschool must be 3 years old by October 1.
- Students applying for Prekindergarten must be 4 years old by October 1.
- Students applying for Kindergarten without previous formal schooling must be 5 years old by October 1.

Applications received by this deadline will be given priority; however, applications may be submitted beyond the due date and will be considered on a rolling basis and as enrollment space allows.
