It is with great enthusiasm that we broke ground for our new "Field of Dreams" project for the front of Swain. The ceremony was held under sunny skies on Friday, April 20, with students, faculty and staff, Board of Trustees members, alumni, alumni parents, and other Friends of Swain who have helped make this dream a reality.

The Field of Dreams includes a playing field, amphitheatre, and an environmental classroom. The field, appropriately named Werner Field in honor of the many years of service Maggie Werner has given to our Athletics program, will serve as a playing space for our younger students and provide the opportunity to serve developmental teams on our campus.

The Ella Kovats-Bernat Amphitheatre will be a beautiful space for classes, entire grades, or our larger community to gather and watch performances, hear speakers, or simply reflect.

Finally, the Barbara Schuster Memorial Learning Garden will be an environmental classroom filled with unique and beneficial plantings that will allow students to explore and study the local ecosystem. It will also serve a sustainability purpose as well as provide a beautiful entrance to our school.

We anticipate construction to be completed in early August, with a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony planned for Tuesday, September 4.

The Swain School, 1100 S. 24th St., Allentown, offers a vibrant education to 322 children in Preschool (aged three) - 8th grade. We do this by supplementing our academic program with additional opportunities in arts, athletics, engineering and design, public speaking, character education, technology, science, and languages.

Our beautiful 20-acre campus is conveniently located five minutes off the Lehigh Street exit of I-78, and busing is available to students from many local school districts at no charge.
