Over 125 members of the Swain community - students, faculty, and family members - participated in the MLK Day of Service on Monday, Jan. 15, part of the national initiative of "a day on, not a day off".

To celebrate Dr. King's legacy we offered several volunteer opportunities for families with children of all ages. We encouraged our students and families to share their time and talents on this day!

Volunteers worked on projects at the MLK, Jr. Dinner/Program at The Literacy Center and the 6th Street Shelterin Allentown, The Gress Mountain Ranch in Orefield, and Flint Hill Farm in Coopersburg. Other volunteers gathered at Swain to create program materials for Equi-librium, Inc.a therapeutic horsemanship project in Nazareth.

The Swain School, 1100 S. 24th St., Allentown, offers a vibrant education to 322 children in Preschool (aged three) - 8th grade. We do this by supplementing our academic program with additional opportunities in arts, athletics, engineering and design, public speaking, character education, technology, science, and languages.

Our beautiful 20-acre campus is conveniently located five minutes off the Lehigh Street exit of I-78, and busing is available to students from many local school districts at no charge.
